We just found out about Daniel Kish, a Californian who has been blind since he was a baby, but then went on to lead a fairly active life — he hikes and cycles — thanks to some sort of mad human echolocation. All he has to do is make repeated tongue-clicks to build a mental picture of his surroundings as these sound waves get reflected back.
